Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, and Hyundai, three of India’s largest automakers, have released their sales reports for September 2024. Unfortunately, all three companies saw a decline in annual sales.

Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki India is one of the largest car manufacturers in the country, but it faced a setback last month. The company experienced a decline in sales of hatchbacks and sub-compact sedans, selling 68,699 units in September 2024 compared to 84,660 units in September 2023. However, sales of utility vehicles like the Brezza, Ertiga, and Grand Vitara saw an increase, with 62,684 units sold last month, up from 58,746 units the previous year.
Hyundai
Hyundai India also reported a drop in domestic sales. In September 2024, the company sold 49,525 units, down from 53,830 units in September 2023. Additionally, Hyundai’s exports decreased from 17,605 units last year to 13,650 units this year.
Tata Motors
Tata Motors saw a decline across all segments, including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and exports in September 2024. The company sold 44,486 passenger vehicles this September, down from 45,933 units last year. Domestic sales fell by 3%, with 44,142 units sold compared to 45,513 units in September 2023. Exports also dropped, with only 344 units sent abroad this month, compared to 420 units last year.
